The Sad Truth

On Sept. 14, 2011, The Director’s Guild of America published the results of a survey they have done on minority hiring practices in prime time television, as it pertains to directors.


Here is what they have published:

There were 2,600 prime time television show episodes in this statistics

Episodes directed by women12% (of which 11% by white women and 1% by minority women)
Episodes directed by other minorities11%

Episodes directed by white males – 77%


The press release goes further to list the names of the shows which have the worst and the best practices.
